Construction of Au/Cu hierarchically organized particles with dual-functional enzyme-like activity

Nanozymes are defined as mimic enzymes with both unique nanostructures and catalytic activity. Inspired by natural enzymes, herein, we reported a dual-functional nanozyme of Au/Cu hierarchically organized particles (Hops) excellent polyphenol oxidase-like (PPO-like) peroxidase-like (POD-like) activities, which could rapidly oxidize refractory toxic phenolic pollutants serve sensitive tool to detect biologically energy-supplying substances. Hop nanozymes exhibited activity recyclability were stable under extreme conditions. Notably, had higher substrate affinity 6.37 times Vmax compared laccase for hydroquinone oxidation reaction at the same mass concentration. Furthermore, cascade system was constructed based on POD-like Hops glucose concentration low detection limit 5 µmol L?1. Significantly, demonstrated formation dual-catalytic active sites Cu-S clusters surface molecular dynamics simulations revealed enzyme catalysis pathway density functional theory calculation. This work has important implications construction application mimetic enzymes.
